Richland Superintendent Finalist with Local Ties Says He's Ready to Hit the Ground Running

RICHLAND, Wash.-  NBC Right Now continues to follow the Richland School District's Superintendent Search.

One of the three finalists for the job who has local ties, opened up to the public Tuesday night for a Q-and-A session

Students, teachers and residents turned out to learn more about Richland Superintendent finalist Dr. John Steach.

Dr. Steach is the current Superintendent of the Canby School District in Oregon.

He also served in four positions with the Richland School District from 2004 through 2011 and says he is excited for the opportunity to possibly come back to Richland.

Steach says his experience in Richland and his background sets him apart from the other two finalists vying for the position.

"Between my engineering degree, my masters in business administration, my doctorate in educational leadership. I can approach problems from all three of those different perspectives and facilitate groups to come up with innovative solutions to complex issues," said Steach.

The Richland School Board says they want the public's input in making the decision.

Interviews and public forums with continue Wednesday and Thursday at the Richland High School Library starting at 7:30 pm.
