YAKIMA, Wash.--It was gems and minerals galore this weekend at the Washington State National Guard Armory.
The Yakima Rock and Mineral Club puts together a showcase each year so the public can see rare collections and learn about earth science.
This was the 52nd annual show. Club members travel all over the northwest in search of that perfect stone.
"You get out in the nature, up in the woods you know somewhere looking for these rocks and man just the idea of finding something like that I mean it's just tremendous," said Dwayne Drake, the Club President.
The club gives out at least one scholarship every year to local geology students. They also raise money for the local chapter of Disabled Veterans of America.
