Fever's best offensive showing can't top worse defensive showing of season

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Five straight losses for the Tri-Cities Fever. Saturday's offensive shootout saw the Green Bay Blizzard come out on top. The Fever scored a season high 54 points, but Tri-Cities' defense gave up a season high 66 points. Green Bay scored on all but one possession, while Tri-Cities scored on all first-half possessions.

"Offensively we played pretty well at times. We had one turnover in the second half, a fumble. But we didn't stop their offense at all, all game. You just can't do that on the road. They got some, made some big plays and got some over our head. It was tough," head coach Adam Shackleford said.

"A lot of mistakes out there. We were supposed to be in different coverages where we weren't there. A lot of people were out of place. When you're running the wrong coverage where everybody is not on the same page, it's hard to get a stop. It's hard to stop an offense that's rolling the whole time," defensive back Lionell Singleton added.

The Fever fell to 1-6 on the season.
