PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SPOKANE VALLEY POLICE DEPT:

On Monday, April 29, 2013, at 10:50 a.m., Spokane Valley Sheriff's Deputy Chan Erdman was investigating a burglary when he saw 47-year-old Gregory Kroetch drive by him in a maroon Ford Probe. Knowing Kroetch had a long history of criminal activity, Deputy Erdman ran the registration of the vehicle that returned stolen.

Several Spokane Valley deputies responded to the area of Pines near I-90 where they attempted to stop Kroetch. Kroetch entered I-90 on the EB off-ramp and traveled westbound in the eastbound lanes of travel. Kroetch exited at Broadway, then traveled eastbound on Broadway and exited at Argonne.

Deputies attempted to block Kroetch in at Argonne. Kroetch re-entered I-90 on the eastbound off-ramp and traveled westbound in the eastbound lanes of travel until he exited at Sprague.  Kroetch returned to I-90 at the Fancher on-ramp and traveled westbound towards Spokane City.

Deputies terminated the pursuit and it was re-initiated by WSP. Kroetch exited I-90 at 195 and was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of travel. WSP Troopers eventually were able to disable Kroetch's vehicle using spike strips near 16th and 195. He was apprehended a short time later near 14th and South Loop Road after he ran from the stolen vehicle.

Kroetch has 23 felony convictions in his criminal tenure. He will not only be facing several felony charges from today's incident, but several other felony charges from an active Identity Theft/Mail Theft investigation by the Sheriff's Office Investigative Task Force Unit.
