Saying Goodbye To A Spokane Coaching Legend

SPOKANE, Wash. – Hundreds gathered at Shadle Park High School to remember hall of fame coach, Linda Sheridan Monday.

Attending the service it was clear Coach Sheridan, also known as "Squat," greatly impacted the lives of her players, friends, and family.

In the past, Coach Sheridan would pack the gym with fans ready to cheer on her teams and Monday it was packed to remember her life. People flew in from Germany and all over the country to pay their respects.

The service was a celebration of life, filled with joy, tears, fond memories, and even laughter. A fellow teacher and friend of Linda Sheridan's gave the Eulogy and said Linda told her, "don't you dare be sad." Her friends used words like pragmatic, real, creative innovator, and someone who always thinks of others to describe her. They also said Linda was a teacher whole-heartedly to others even outside the classroom and off of the court.

During the service, a video was played with photos and music, all picked by Linda before she passed away at the age of 65.

Former players coached by Sheridan who attend the memorial all wore yellow in her honor. At the end of the service, each player placed a yellow rose in a vase, as the Shadle Park High School Band played "Amazing Grace."

Linda's partner, Linda Wolcott was the last to speak during the service. She shared a quote from a movie that resonated with Coach Sheridan: "Your life is an occasion, rise to it."

SEATTLE, Wash. - A new study of Seattle's $15-an-hour minimum wage law says it costs jobs, contrary to another new study released last week. The Seattle Times reports a University of Washington team found the law boosted pay in low-wage jobs since 2014  but that it also caused a 9 percent reduction in hours worked. For an average low-wage Seattle worker, that's a loss of about $125 per month.

ALPHARETTA, Ga. - Technically it was M.I.B. jurisdiction, but police in Apharetta took the lead on an extraterrestrial encounter on Sunday.  Officers pulled over a car for speeding and as they approached the car they noticed a little something out of place in the passenger seat: An alien.  Officers got a laugh and snapped some photos when they saw the big, black-eyed and pale passenger (who was even wearing his seatbelt).
