KENNEWICK, Wash. (AP) - A Benton County jury is deliberating a verdict in the manslaughter trial of a nanny accused of fatally injuring a 1-year-old Richland boy.
The Tri-City Herald reports (http://bit.ly/12U9MSK ) the case went to the jury Tuesday afternoon.
Prosecutors say 28-year-old Kelli Jacobsen was responsible for the death of Ryder Morrison in June 2011. She said he had fallen and hit the back of his head. The autopsy found the boy died of bleeding normally caused by whiplash, not a fall.
The defense lawyer says the evidence is not conclusive and the boy also had problems while he was with his mother.
