Police: Central Idaho Bottle Bombs Likely Linked

KETCHUM, Idaho (AP) - Authorities in central Idaho say eight homemade bottle bombs laced with shrapnel found in the resort area in recent weeks are likely connected and possibly built by the same person or persons.

Blaine County Sheriff Gene Ramsey tells the Idaho Mountain Express (http://bit.ly/YFqdq0) that the similarity in the design of the crude devices leads him to that conclusion.

One bomb consisting of three bottles taped together was found April 24 in a mailbox at a rural residence north of Hailey. Five other bottle bombs were found last week floating in a pond in the Elkhorn Village area of Sun Valley, east of Ketchum.

Of the eight bottle bombs, four exploded, one detonated ineffectively, one malfunctioned, and two were rendered harmless by a bomb squad. No injuries have been reported.

SPOKANE, Wash. - It’s not something you’d ever expect to see appear in your backyard. But one Spokane family came home to find a sinkhole on Wednesday night. “I don’t like to be over here,” Alyssa Davis says. She’s put a board over it so no animals or kids who are playing her backyard fall in. Her husband measured the depth and it came out to about 7 feet. The width looks like it continues to grow. What’s scaring Alyssa is how close it is to
