Intruder Stabbed To Death Inside Of Home; Man & Wife Awoken By Barking Dog

NORTH BEND, Wash. (AP) - An intruder was stabbed to death in a struggle early Monday with residents of a home in North Bend.

The King County sheriff's office says they were awakened about 1:40 a.m. by their barking dogs. The man got up and was confronted by the intruder.

The wife jumped into the fight to help her husband. One grabbed a knife. The intruder died at the scene.

The sheriff's office says the woman had been assaulted and robbed Sunday afternoon by a man who entered the house through an unlocked door. She was home with her infant daughter and mother.

The robber got away and could not be found despite a search of the area with police dogs.

Detectives are investigating whether it's the same man. The residents don't know the intruder.
