The first shooting happened on Maple and Grace around 12:50am Thursday morning The first shooting happened on Maple and Grace around 12:50am Thursday morning

FROM COURT DOCUMENTS: Witnesses told officers Justin Cairns pulled up in his truck outside 1428 W. Grace. Witnesses told police he drove a block to the west then fired two shots. A witness ran over there then Cairns made this comment: "You want some too?" Cairns said, according to witnesses. Cyrus Jones was lying in the street after being shot. Jones later died.

Witnesses say they heard two to three gunshots. Cairns took off and soon his truck was located on W. Charles Road in 9 Mile Falls.

Spokane police officer "Christensen" (first name not listed in court documents) and one other went around back and spotted Cairns. Officers told Cairns to put his hands up and get on his knees. Cairns pointed at him with his left hand while he put his right hand down toward his waist area.

Officer Christensen said this movement is consistent with what people do when they grab a firearm. Then they saw Cairns jump a fence and run around toward the front of the house.

Officers identified themselves when Cairns got to the front of the house and Christensen heard 5 gunshots. Along the path Cairns ran a black semiautomatic gun was spotted in the grass.

The "three officers" at the front of the home fired upon Cairns striking him at least one time and mortally wounding him.

Cairns suffered a gunshot wound to the head.
