SPOKANE, Wash. - The Postal Union is warning Spokane residents about two suspicious letters found in Spokane that contained ricin. The union says one of the letters was addressed to the Spokane Post Office on Riverside in downtown Spokane and the other letter was addressed to a Federal Judge in Spokane.
Both of the letters were postmarked on Tuesday, March 14th.
The union says they have no reason to believe any employees are at risk because the substance was not in a form that could have been inhaled or otherwise ingested.
Ricin is a dangerous poisonous substance, but the union says you should only be concerned if you experience symptoms within 24 hours. Those symptoms are fever, coughing and difficulty with breathing.
If you experience those symptoms contact your doctor immediately. Stay with KHQ for the very latest on this developing story.
