SPOKANE, Wash. - Multiple sources have confirmed that three officers were involved in the May 16th shooting in Nine Mile Falls that killed the suspect in a shooting that happened less than an hour before at Maple and Grace in NW Spokane. The officers involved include Officer Adam Valdez, Officer Dan Lesser and Officer Jake Jensen.

Sources close to Spokane County Sheriff's Office and SPD say two of these officers were involved in past shootings. Adam Valdez was involved in the last Officer Involved Shooting at 8th and Monroe earlier this year. Officer Dan Lesser was involved in fatal shooting at 7th and Hatch in 2011.

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SPOKANE POLICE DEPT: The three officers involved in this incident are part of specialized units (K-9, SWAT and TAC).  These units are specially trained to protect the public and officers in these units are frequently the first to respond to dangerous situations.

SPD has a mutual aid agreement with the Spokane County Sheriff's Office and the Washington State Patrol and the K-9 units frequently assist with potentially high-risk and dangerous calls for service throughout the area.
