Sucre, Triunfel Join Mariners, Andino DFA'd

There were multiple reports of moves being made by the Mariners during their off day on Thursday and Friday, the team made them official.

The Mariners selected catcher Jesus Sucre from Triple-A Tacoma, recalled infielder Carlos Triunfel and designated infielder Robert Andino for assignment.

Sucre and Triunfel will both be in uniform for Friday's game against Rangers, with Sucre getting the start behind the plate and hitting eighth. It will be his Major League debut.

Sucre was hitting .302 with five RBIs for Tacoma, but is known more for his defensive prowess. He replaces Jesus Montero on the 25-man roster, who was optioned to Tacoma on Thursday.

Triunfel appeared in 10 games with the Mariners last season, hitting .227 with two doubles and three RBIs. Triunfel, 23, was hitting .300 with 14 doubles, two triples, four home runs and 19 RBIs in 44 games with Tacoma this season.

Andino, 29, signed with the Mariners during the offseason as a utility infielder, but was unable to get going at the plate, hitting .184 in 29 games. The Mariners have 10 days to trade, release or outright Andino to the minors.
