COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho – In the wake of massive devastation left behind after tornados ripped through Oklahoma, a group of dedicated people in Coeur D'Alene are hitting the road in the aptly named ‘Tornado Truck.'

They collected supplies and donations all Memorial Day weekend long, ranging from food and clothes to wheelchairs and flashlights.  Tuesday morning, two drivers will hit the road for not just Moore, Oklahoma – but the smaller surrounding communities like Shawnee, Newcastle and Bridgeport.

"Our family was lucky enough not to be hit, but a lot of family friends were," said ‘Tornado Truck' organizer Laurita Mikalatos.  "There are some homes there's not even rubble to go through, so they really just have the clothes they wore to work that day."

Now, boxes full of clothes, household goods, baby toys, water and shovels are heading to them.

"You pull the wrong thing out, and you're going to have a lot coming down," laughed Tom Bandy, who helped to fill the truck.

Also on board is a box of 30 pairs of children's shoes donated by a woman and her 5-year-old son.  Inside each pair, he left a hand-written note saying, "Here I got you some nice shoes.  For your feet so your feet will not suffer.  And also stay safe and strong."

"I still tear up, it was just amazing," said fellow organizer Faye Maestas.

A truck filled with so much heart and hope.

If you'd like to donate, the ‘Tornado Truck' is loading up at 4th & Wallace in Coeur D'Alene until sundown tonight.
