A List Of The Best Players To Wear A Spokane Indians Uniform

The MLB first-year player draft is almost upon us (the first two rounds are Thursday at 3:00 p.m. PT). The Texas Rangers send the majority of their draft picks to the Spokane Indians, so it's a good time to start thinking about the players that will be playing in Avista Stadium this summer.

Of course, the Rangers don't have to assign all their draft picks to the Indians and often will refrain from sending the top couple picks to Spokane. So instead of looking ahead, here's a glance back at some of the top players to come through Spokane in the last decade or so, with their current team in parenthesis.

Did I miss anyone? Let me know.

Chris Davis (Baltimore Orioles): The first baseman was drafted in 2006 by the Rangers and never played more than 113 games in three-plus seasons with the big league club. Davis was traded to the Orioles during the 2011 season and put up career highs in home runs (33), RBI (85), walks (37) and games (139) in 2012 with Baltimore. This year, though, Davis has catapulted himself into one of the top hitters in the league. Davis leads the Majors in home runs (20) and is hitting .357. Look for him at the All-Star Game in July.

Carlos Beltran (St. Louis Cardinals): The 16-year veteran played for the Indians when they were an affiliate of the Royals in the late 1990s. Beltran has since gone on to a distinguished career that includes seven All-Star Games, a Rookie of the Year award, three Gold Gloves and two Silver Sluggers.

Ian Kinsler (Texas Rangers): The Rangers took Kinsler in the 17th round of the 2003 draft, a selection that would prove to be a steal. Kinsler played for the Indians during that summer and eventually made the big league club before the 2006 season. Kinsler is a three-time All Star and has amassed 1,038 hits, 150 home runs and 160 stolen bases in less than seven years.

Jurickson Profar (Texas Rangers): The middle infielder signed with the Rangers in 2009 and made his debut with the Indians in 2010. Profar is rated as MLB's top prospect and is currently playing with the Rangers in place of Kinsler, who is on the disabled list.

Mike Olt (Triple-A Round Rock): The 21st –rated prospect by MLB spent the 2010 season with the Indians and has made an appearance with the Rangers. He currently is playing in Triple-A Round Rock.
