Blanco's Blast Carries Mariners To Series Win

Updated:

Henry Blanco came up big for the Mariners in his Seattle debut.

The recently signed catcher hit a go-ahead grand slam in the sixth inning to give starter Felix Hernandez more than enough run support in a 4-0 Mariners win over the Oakland Athletics.

Hernandez scattered five hits in seven shutout innings, striking out eight.

For the A's, who also dropped Friday's contest against the Mariners, it is their first series loss of the month.
