5 Acre Brush Fire In Hangman Valley Area

SPOKANE, Wash. -

 

Firefighters are mopping up a brush fire just north of the Hangman Valley area near Baltimore and Moran Vista Lane. 

Dispatch started getting calls just before 4:00pm Tuesday afternoon of homeowners seeing smoke in the Hangman Valley area.

Firefighters from Spokane County Fire District #8 and Washington State DNR responded.  

The fire grew to about 5 acres before crews were able to get it knocked down. 

There were no structures threatened and the fire was burning mainly in brush. 

The terrain and access were problems for firefighters. 

Crews will remain on scene putting out hot spots well into Tuesday night. 

The cause remains under investigation.

First arriving companies found heavy fire coming through the roof of the Shogun Restaurant and immediately began to attack the fire.     HELENA, Mont. (AP) - A 9-year-old boy died in an all-terrain vehicle crash on a rural road north of Boulder over the weekend.   The Montana Highway Patrol says the ATV went off Sloans Lane early Sunday afternoon and tipped onto its side. The boy was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.   His name has not been released.
