First-round pick Alex Gonzalez did not allow an earned run, but was tagged with the loss in the Spokane Indians 8-3 defeat to the Vancouver Canadians on Wednesday.

Gonzalez allowed three unearned runs on four hits in two innings of work to lower his ERA to 7.36. He struck out one and did not allow a walk.

But the Indians (1-5) were once again plagued by errors. Two fielding gaffes on Wednesday bump Spokane's total to 12 in six games this season. The Indians led the Northwest League with 128 errors last year and had a league low .957 fielding percentage.

Evan Van Hoosier's two-out throwing error in the third allowed the Canadians' (3-3) first run of the game to cross home and they would eventually score three times in the frame.

Center fielder Chris Garia continued his hot hitting by recording two hits and drawing a walk. The speedy leadoff man also scored a run.

The Indians return to Spokane on Thursday for an eight-game homestand that includes five contests against Boise and three against Vancouver. Saturday's game against Boise will be broadcast live on SWX (Comcast channel 115) at 6:30 p.m. PST.
