Spokane Police Make Arrest In Craigslist Robbery

Posted: Updated:

Spokane Police Department Press Release:

Spokane Police Targeted Crimes Unit (TCU) execute two search warrants this morning, simultaneously, in the city and county, in response to a recent series of Craigslist robberies. A 17 year old juvenile was arrested on 3 counts of 1st Robbery. This is the fourth time this week that Spokane Police have been able to identify the suspects in local robberies due to diligent police work and citizen tips.

On 06-21-13 around 8:00am TCU and SWAT members simultaneously executed two search warrants at 2405 E Desmet and 924 E Parkhill to locate people and evidence connected to several recent Craigslist Robberies. Over the past 4 months Spokane Police have received 5 different reports of robberies relating to people selling items on Craigslist. Most of the items sold have been Apple products, specifically Mac Book computers. The sellers of the property were contacted by a buyer who requested the seller meet them at a local park to buy the product. When the seller arrived at the park they were robbed of the item, in some cases at gunpoint. TCU detectives have been working numerous leads in the cases and developed probable cause for two suspects for 1st Robbery. Arrested today was a 17 year-old-male on three counts of 1st Robbery. Spokane Police are still looking for the second suspect, 20 year old Curtis Cyrus, a suspect in the robberies. This is the fourth time this week that Spokane Police have been able to identify the suspects in local robberies due to diligent police work and citizen tips. Two people have been arrested and booked into jail including Daniel Drake (for the Java Hut and Albertson robberies) and Lucky Guzman (Wells Fargo Bank). A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Andrew Carr for the Hot Toddy's robbery. Police have probable cause to arrest Curtis Cyrus for the Craigslist robberies.

Spokane Police would like to encourage citizens to use safe practices when buying or selling items on Craigslist. Detectives suggest meeting in a busy public place, such as a coffee shop, to make a transaction with a stranger. Also, bringing a friend with you will further enhance your safety.
