Solid pitching combined with timely hitting led to the Tri-City Dust Devils to the 4-1 win on Friday night over the Vancouver Canadians. Tri-City outfielder Mike Tauchman drove in three of the team's four runs, which included a crucial triple that brought home two runs in the seventh inning. Reliever Bruce Kern earned the victory after throwing one scoreless frame in the sixth inning. Jonathan Vargas shut the door on the Canadians and picked up his first save of the season.
The road series with Vancouver will continue on Saturday night. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. Left-hander Sam Moll will toe the rubber for the Dust Devils. Countering for the Canadians is righty Eric Brown. Tri-City will return home Monday to begin a three-game series with the Spokane Indians.
