UPDATE: Sheriff's Office Investigating Murder/Suicide In Malott

Posted: Updated:

MALOTT, Wash. (AP) - The Okanogan County sheriff says a landlord and his tenant are dead in a murder-suicide.

The Wenatchee World reports that Sheriff Frank Rogers says deputies called to a Malott residence in north-central Washington on Monday found 65-year-old William Bordua of Okanogan and 47-year-old Tony Halford both dead.

The sheriff says Bordua and his wife, Anita, went to the home to evict Halford. Rogers says when Halford became aggressive toward the woman, her husband stepped in and Halford shot him with a .40-caliber pistol.

The sheriff says Halford threatened to shoot Anita Bordua, but the tenant instead walked out on the porch and shot himself.

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE OKANOGAN SHERIFF'S OFFICE: On 07-01-13 at approximately 12:30 PM today Okanogan County Sheriff's Deputies responded to a shots fired call at 1481 Old Hwy 97 in Malott. When Deputies arrived at the scene they found two subjects, both dead at the scene from gunshot wounds.

The investigation shows that William T. Bordua, 65 of Okanogan and his wife Anita Bordua had gone to the residence in Malott, which they own, to evict the subject living there, Tony J. Halford, 47 of 1481 Old Hwy 97 Malott.

Apparently while the Bordua's were in the bedroom in the house with Halford and argument ensued and Halford became aggressive towards Anita Bordua. William Bordua stepped between Halford and his wife and at that time Halford reached over to the bed and pulled a semi-automatic 40 caliber pistol from beneath the pillow and shot William Bordua once in the chest, killing him.

Halford then told Anita Bordua the next bullet was for her but instead, Halford walked out onto the front porch and shot himself. Both William Bordua and Halford were pronounced dead at the scene. Anita Bordua was not hurt during the incident. This is the fourth murder in Okanogan County this year.
