Chiefs Select Hascic, Zwerger in CHL Import Draft

by Spokane Chiefs Hockey

The Spokane Chiefs selected two forwards in the 2013 CHL Import Draft; Adam Hascic from Trencin, Slovakia 46th overall and Dominic Zwerger from Dornbirn, Austria with the 106th pick.

Hascic scored 20 goals and 41 points in 27 games last season with the EC Salzburg U18 team in Austria last season.  He added another four points in eight games with their U20 club.  The 5'10, 165 pound left wing, also scored two goals in five games with the Slovakia's U17 Team that played in the 2013 Under-17 World Hockey Challenge.

"We expect Adam to be an offensive player who plays the game with speed and a good level of skill" Chiefs General Manager Tim Speltz said.

Zwerger split 37 games last season in the Swiss Junior League for Davos' under-17 and under-20 clubs scoring 24 goals and 51 points.  The 6'0", 195 pound forward also played on Austria's under-18 and under-20 national teams.

"Dominic is one of the most dominant '96 born players in Austria," Chiefs Director of Player Personnel Chris Moulton said.

"He moved to play in Switzerland and stayed dominant there.  Offensivley, he's a gifted player with good size and strength," Moulton said.

"We are comfortable both players will adjust to the North American game and be solid contributors in our future," Speltz said.

The Chiefs also released 18-year-old forward Mikulas Rimmel from their roster.  The Ostrava, Czech Republic native had three goals and seven points in 42 games last season.
