IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) - A man who tried to swim to an island in the Snake River in Idaho Falls has drowned.
Bonneville County officials say 27-year-old Lloyd N. Westbrook II and two others were swimming in the river at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, but Westbrook did not make it back to shore. Dive crews searched the area near Keefer's Island for about an hour, delaying the start of the city's fireworks display until 11 p.m.
Westbrook's body was recovered at about 1:15 a.m. Friday.
