Spokane Rallies Against Eugene Again

Posted: Updated:

Spokane, WA - The Spokane Indians are beginning to make come-from-behind victories the norm, as Spokane used a six-run eighth inning to turn a 4-2 deficit into an 8-4 victory over the Eugene Emeralds on No. 42 Jackie Robinson Day Game presented by Taco Bell, 94 1/2 and ESPN 700/ESPN 1080.

Barrett Serrato started the comeback with an RBI single - his ninth RBI in 12 games - and Alberto Triunfel doubled home the tying run soon after. Marcus Greene, Jamie Jarmon and Chris Garia all collected RBIs in the inning as Spokane batted around its lineup for the third straight game.

Jarmon, making his first appearance since a June 24th win against Boise, went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and one walk to push his average from .063 to .200.

Lefty Yohander Mendez lasted 4.1 innings allowing five hits and three runs, but struck out three Emeralds. Mendez's ERA raised to 2.05 on the season, but he now is second on the Indians with 19 strikeouts. Mike Zouzalik (1-0) earned the win after throwing two shut-out innings holding Eugene to just one hit.

Both Gabe Roa and Kevin Torres were ejected from the game in the third and sixth inning, respectively, after questionable calls on the base paths.
