PRESS RELEASE FROM THE CHELAN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE: Chelan County Sheriff Brian Burnett reports on July 5 at about 8:45 A.M., Rivercom dispatch received a call of a Domestic Disturbance on Second Creek Road in Leavenworth where a 2-year-old boy and 11-year-old girl were struck by buckshot fired out of a shotgun by their father earlier in the morning.
Rinke was reported to be heavily intoxicated when he started an argument and making threats to kill the children and an adult female earlier in the morning. During the argument, Rinke fired off several rounds from the shotgun, striking the children with buckshot.
The 2-year-old received minor injuries to the top of the head and shoulder. The 11-year-old received minor injuries to the chest, arm and hand. The adult female sustained no injuries. The children were treated at a local hospital and released.
Deputies arrested 36 year old Joshua A. Rinke for six separate offenses: Assault 1st Degree Domestic Violence, (2) counts of Assault of a Child 1st Degree Domestic Violence and (3) counts of Harassment/Threats to Kill Domestic Violence. He is being held in the Chelan County Regional Justice Center on $500,000 bail.
