Fever ownership considering options; may cut losses, team

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- The Tri-Cities Fever organization is in danger of closing its doors, and now it is turning to the community for help. Every year owner and general manager Teri Carr loses money and sleep trying to keep the Fever afloat. This off-season stands out because both the Toyota Center lease and head coach Adam Shackleford's contract are up for renewal. Monday Carr met with her staff about ideas. Now she wants to hear from the community.

"I'm not sure that I hope to get anything other than maybe some answers from those that aren't at the games and haven't supported us. Does it matter enough to other people beyond those that come to our games that we continue? Because in the end we need the support of more than the regular people that come to our games to continue to make it work," Carr said.

"I support and trust the Carrs 100%," Shackleford added. "They along with my players the past four years have given so much to this community. It would be a shame for it to go away, and the positive role models I have brought in the past four years to leave with it. At the end of the day this is a business. As a coach I am preparing for the decision to go either way."
