Multi-State Police Chase Sends Montana Woman To Jail

Posted: Updated:
MEDICAL LAKE, Wash. -

A Montana woman is in custody Wednesday after a high-speed chase on Interstate 90.

It happened just after 6:30PM when Idaho State Police attempted a DUI stop of a blue Ford Taurus with Montana plates.

The driver refused to stop, and sped away from ISP into Washington.

Washington State Patrol troopers located the Taurus and began following the vehicle. The driver would still not stop.

Troopers followed the car at speeds of up to 80 miles per hour, waiting until they were out of town before using a spike strip to stop the blue Taurus.

After the spikes blew the cars tires, the woman tried to get off on the Medical Lake exit but lost control of her car, driving through a field and finally crashing into some trees.

Troopers had to pull the woman from the car and she was placed under arrest.

WSP deputies say safety is their first priority when executing a stop like this and this was the best outcome they could have asked for.

Multiple open alcohol containers were found in the car.

The 44-year-old woman from Butte, Montana is now facing DUI and Felony Eluding charges.

Deputies say the woman also has an outstanding warrant for her arrest out of Montana.
