Red Sox Drop Mariners In Extras

The Seattle Mariners blew another early lead on Thursday in an 8-7 loss to the Red Sox in 10 innings, the third straight defeat to Boston.

Tom Wilhelmsen gave up the go-ahead run in the 10th to drop to 0-3. Ryan Lavarnway walked to lead off the frame and  pinch-runner Jackie Bradley Jr. moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. After a strikeout and intentional walk that, Daniel Nava's seeing-eye single up the middle scored Bradley Jr.

The Mariners couldn't maintain an early 5-1 and then 7-4 lead, as the Red Sox used back-to-back three-run frames in the fourth and fifth.

Erasmo Ramirez allowed seven runs on six hits and four walks in just 4 2/3 innings. It was Ramirez's first Major League appearance of the season.

Kyle Seager hit his 14th home run of the season in the second to extend the Mariners streak of games with a homer to 19 consecutive.
