Posted: Updated:
UPDATE: Just before 3 Wednesday afternoon emergency crews from the city of Spokane and Fire District 9 responded to reports of a house fire near Normandie and Wedgewood.

When firefighters arrived they found a home heavily engulfed in flames and smoke.

Taking an offensive approach firefighters worked for nearly 2 hours to put the fire out that burned completely through the roof of the 2 story home.

Were told everyone inside the home was able to get out safely.

Along with the heat inside the home, firefighters worked in shifts to help deal with high temperatures both inside and outside the home.

Family members we spoke with who were inside the home when the fire broke out believe it started in the kitchen after hearing a breaker pop.

Three fire investigators responded to the scene along with Red Cross to assist the family.

The house is reportedly a complete loss.

UPDATE: At least 6 people were inside of the home at the time. Thankfully none of them were hurt. The home is a complete loss. The family believes the fire started in the kitchen. At this hour the official cause is unknown.
