BOISE, Idaho (AP) - A 55-year-old Boise man who police say pulled a gun in an apparent attempt to shoot two police officers investigating a report of domestic violence has been taken into custody.
Police say James N. Twitchell faces a felony attempted murder charge, a felony charge of battery on a law enforcement officer, and a misdemeanor charge of domestic assault.
Police say officers went to a home about 7:30 p.m. Saturday and that Twitchell allowed the officers inside. Police say Twitchell then reached for a handgun from the top of an entertainment center and turned toward the officers.
Police say Twitchell was taken into custody after a struggle. While being treated at a hospital for injuries to his face sustained during the struggle, police say he kicked an officer in the chest.
