SANDPOINT, Idaho - A man is believed to have drowned Saturday morning after jumping from the Bridge St. Bridge in Sandpoint. Police say 25-year-old Patrick Orton and a friend were walking across shortly after 2 a-m when Orton decided to jump off of the north side of the bridge.
His friend lost sight of him and Orton's body was later found submerged in water. There are reports that Orton broke his neck though police say there were no obvious signs of trauma.
Alcohol is believed to have played a role in the drowning. Jumping from the bridge is illegal and warning signs are posted.
