Prugh Holds Off Amateur Seibly, Wins 3rd Rosauers

Posted: Updated:

SPOKANE, Wash. -- A short tap-in putt on the tournament's 54th hole clinched a third Rosauers Open Invitational title for Corey Prugh, but not before getting a run for his money from amateur Rob Seibly on Sunday.

Prugh, trying to become just the second golfer in the event's 26-year history to become a three-time champion, started the round even-par through six holes before making eagle on the par-5 seventh.  Prugh overtook frontrunner Matt Cowell, who shot a course record 61 in Friday's opening round, closing with a final round 67, after firing a 67 on Friday and 65 on Saturday for a three-round total of 199.

Seibly, representing Manito Golf & Country Club like Prugh, nearly caught the 3-time champion down the stretch.  The amateur, who played collegiately at Seattle U, eagled the par 4 17th to finish one stroke back of Prugh at 200.  He repeated as amateur champion of the Rosauers Open Invitational, which presented a $125,000 check to the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery after the event.
