BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - A woman from Montana's Crow Reservation plans to plead guilty to killing her 3-year-old daughter by throwing her from a moving pickup truck.
Court documents filed Monday say Mary Agnes Leider of St. Xavier will change her plea without a deal to lessen the second-degree murder charge for the Dec. 3 death of Tenielle Big Day.
U.S. District Judge Donald Molloy has set a Wednesday change-of-plea hearing in Billings.
Prosecutors say Tenielle was on Leider's lap in a pickup driven by Leider's brother after a night of drinking. Leider's brother told an FBI investigator his sister opened the passenger door and threw Tenielle onto U.S. Highway 313.
The girl died of blunt-force trauma to the head.
Leider originally told authorities she struck her head and could not remember what happened.
