Mariners Win Streak Halted By Indians

Updated:

The Seattle Mariners managed just two hits on Wednesday afternoon as their eight-game winning streak came to an end with a 10-1 loss to the Cleveland Indians at Safeco Field.

Joe Saunders lasted just 4 2/3 innings for the Mariners, allowing six runs (five earned) on nine hits and three walks. The left-hander also struck out five.

Reliever Hector Noesi didn't fare much better, allowing three runs on just two hits in 2 1/3 innings. The two hits were both home runs, though. Lucas Luetge allowed a run in two innings of work out of the bullpen.

Meanwhile, the Mariners offense was stymied by Cleveland starter Scott Kazmir, who allowed just one hit in eight innings of work. Kazmir gave up one run, although it wasn't earned, and struck out seven.

Nick Franklin and Justin Smoak collected the only Seattle hits, both singles, although the Mariners did manage to work four free passes. Two of the walks came in the ninth off Vinnie Pestano, but the Mariners left the bases loadeed.

Carlos Santana led the Indians with three hits, including a pair of doubles. Asdrubal Cabrera had two hits, four runs and three RBIs.
