Harvin Undergoes Successful Hip Surgery

Posted: Updated:

Seattle Seahawks Coach Pete Carroll said Thursday that wide receiver Percy Harvin's surgery for a hip labrum tear went "very well." Harvin received surgery in New York and plans to stay there for two more weeks to rehab before returning to Seattle.

An injury such as Harvin's is said to keep a player out at least 3-4 months. "We don't have any dates or timeline," Carroll said, "but we'll be optimistic and hope he'll get back as soon as possible and be ready to go, eventually."

Harvin's hip forced him to not participate in training camp, although the team was hopeful that the hip would not require surgery. However, after seeking out opinions from two different doctors, Harvin announced via his twitter account Tuesday that surgery was unavoidable.

The Seahawks traded for Harvin in the off-season.
