Man Arrested In Burglary Attempt Of Kid Rock Home

CLARKSTON, Mich. (AP) - A 43-year-old suburban Detroit man has been arrested in the attempted burglary of a home owned by Kid Rock.

Oakland County Undersheriff Michael McCabe says two tips led to the arrest Saturday morning at the man's Independence Township home.

McCabe says the man is being held in the county jail and a white van used to smash into a gate at Kid Rock's Clarkston property, north of Detroit, has been recovered.

An arraignment is expected Monday.

Security cameras showed a man ramming the gate Wednesday afternoon and trying to break into the house. He failed to get in.

Kid Rock offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the man's arrest.

Kid Rock values his personal space and family's safety, and made that clear in an online message after a man tried to break into his Detroit-area home.

The man was on crutches, which along with the van's description may prompt someone to report his identity, according to McCabe.

"Thank God I was not on the property at the time of this attempted break in," read the post. "I am an avid hunter and marksman and I will not hesitate to shoot anyone who has myself or family in fear for our lives," Rock said in a post on his website.

"I take the invasion of my personal space very seriously regardless of who you are."

Kid Rock's music is a blend of hip-hop, hard rock, country and Southern rock. He was born Robert Ritchie.
