Investigators Calling House Fire In Southwest Spokane 'Suspicious'

Spokane Firefighters were called to a house fire in the 2200 block of S. Inland Empire Way Sunday afternoon.

Officials say they received the call just after 2:30pm and while en route to the scene could see a column of smoke coming from the area, so the call was upgraded to a "working fire." Once on scene crews saw flames coming from the top floor of a two-story home. The house was determined to be vacant and firefighters were able to put out the flames quickly.

No injuries were reported and the home suffered major damage.

Since the home was vacant and the electricity was shut off to the property, investigators are calling the fire suspicious and are looking into a cause.
