UPDATE: Motorcycle And Car Collide In Northeast Spokane; Rider In Serious Condition

PHOTO: KHQ PHOTO: KHQ

One person is in the hospital in serious condition after a collision involving an SUV and motorcycle just north of Spokane.

It happened at about 2:30pm Tuesday afternoon. Deputies say a man was riding his motorcycle south on Market when a green Chevy SUV heading north attempted to turn into a driveway.

Crossing the southbound lanes, the woman driving did not see the motorcycle until it crashed into the side of her vehicle.

The 63-year-old man on the motorcycle was taken to the hospital and were told he remains in serious condition.

Market from Francis to Wilding was closed for a while as deputies investigated.

Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be factors.

The woman driving the SUV will be cited for failing to yield.

Luckily, the man was wearing a helmet which in this case deputies say more than likely saved his life.

Previous Coverage:

Spokane County Sheriff's Deputies have the road blocked off near the intersection of Market & Francis in north Spokane.

Deputies say a car and motorcycle collided head-on in the intersection and the motorcycle rider suffered serious injuries.

Right now Market is blocked while deputies investigate the crash, so if you're in the area, you'll want to find an alternate route.

KHQ has a crew headed to the scene to get more information and we will update this story as soon as we know more.
