Seahawks Open Pre-Season Against Chargers

The Seattle Seahawks are ready to start their 2013 pre-season campaign Thursday as they face the Chargers at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego.

Quarterback Russell Wilson and running back Marshawn Lynch lead Seattle as they attempt to get off on the right foot with win over the Chargers.

Rookies like running back Christine Michael (Texas A&M) will continue to battle for a spot in the starting line-up and prove to coach Pete Carroll why they can be the man for the job, just like Wilson – a third round pick – did last year.

Carroll has made it clear that it doesn't matter if it is a big name returner or a recently drafted rookie, to him they are all out battling for a spot and playing time will be earned based on performance, not reputation.

As for the San Diego Chargers quarterback Phillip Rivers is starting the pre-season with high expectations for his offense. On the defensive side standout linebacker Manti Te'o (Notre Dame) will be making his NFL debut. The 38th pick overall will finally suit up after all the controversy surrounding him prior to the 2013 NFL draft.

Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. in San Diego. Make sure to turn in to SWX tonight at 10:30 for all the post game coverage.
