From Tri-City Dust Devils

The Tri-City Dust Devils had the tying run on third base in the bottom of the ninth inning, but they weren't able to drive him in as they fell to the Spokane Indians by a final score of 3-2 at Gesa Stadium on Wednesday night.

Tri-City (7-13 Second Half, 26-32 Overall) right fielder Mike Tauchman continued his exquisite hitting this month. With his 2-for-4 performance Wednesday night, Tauchman's batting average in August climbed to .432.

Dust Devils catcher Wilfredo Rodriguez, the Papa John's Hit Man of the game, went 1-for-3. Since he recorded a hit everyone can head to papajohns.com and type in promo code "dustdevils" where you can buy any pizza and receive a second pizza of equal or lesser value for free. This promo code is valid tomorrow only, Thursday, August 15th, at all Tri-City locations.

Kennewick, Wash. native Tony Bryant made his Gesa Stadium debut in the eighth inning for the Dust Devils. After giving up a lead-off walk, Bryant struck out the next two batters and got out of the inning with a groundout to second base.

Tri-City right-hander Logan Norris (0-2) had a rough outing in his second Northwest League start. He surrendered three runs on three hits, all of which came in the second inning. He finished the night with four walks and struck out a batter over 3 2/3 innings.

Spokane (10-10, 30-28) starter John Niggli (1-0) began the game strong, but he ran into trouble in the fourth inning when the Dust Devils pegged him with two runs on three hits. He finished his night after five innings, giving up just the two runs on four hits. He also struck out one and walked two batters on the night.

The final game of the three series between the Dust Devils and Indians is Thursday night at Gesa Stadium as Tri-City looks to bounce back from the series opening loss.
