Brush Fire Near Spokane Valley Mall Quickly Extinguished

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. -

Spokane Valley firefighters were able to quickly put out a brush fire near Evergreen and Indiana Monday afternoon.

Officials say just before 4:30pm a citizen called in to report the fire, and within minutes firefighters were on scene, saw smoke and flames, and upgraded the call. Because of winds in the area, every precaution was taken to put the flames out and 20 minutes after the crews arrived on scene, they had the fire knocked down.

Right now the cause is under investigation, but officials say there are transient camps nearby.

We are told a passerby received minor injuries when they attempted to put out the fire, though the injuries are not considered serious.

NEW YORK - Verizon is raising the price of its unlimited plan while introducing a slightly cheaper, more limited version as wireless carriers battle each other for customers. Verizon, like its rivals, will start charging more for higher-quality video while hoping to attract cost-conscious customers with a cheaper plan.

HAYDEN, Idaho - Barely a sound, just the occasional train or a passing car about every five minutes. A far cry from 25 years ago when protestors, supporters of the Weaver and Harris family, and media from across the country stood at the road block at the entrance of Ruby Creek Road. As the water flows in the creek next to the road, so do people trying to come up and see the cabin.
