Spokane County Sheriff's Office: 62-Year-Old Man Arrested After Short Standoff

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SPOKANE COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE: On August 12, 2013, the United States Marshall Service and Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task Force, which is comprised of investigators from the U.S. Marshall Service and the Sheriff's Office Investigative Task Force, assisted the El Paso County Sheriff's Office with the service of an arrest warrant in north Spokane County.

62-year-old Ronald D. Stanley was wanted in El Paso County for a sexual assault crime. The warrant was a no bail warrant and was extraditable nationwide.  Through the investigation, investigators learned Stanley was staying at the Alderwood R.V. Park at 14007 N. Newport Hwy.  Investigators arrived at Stanley's residence at 11:00 a.m. and saw him drive up to the residence at 12:30 p.m.

After negotiating by phone and PA for about one hour, Stanley came out of the residence under his own power and was taken into custody without incident.  The R.V. was seized and placed in a secure facility for a search warrant at a later date.

On August 20th, 2013, members of the Spokane County Sheriff's Office Investigative Task Force assisted El Paso County Sheriff's Office investigators with serving a search warrant on Stanley's R.V.  Investigators seized 11 firearms, over $10,000 in U.S. currency, several ounces of gold and hundreds of collector coins.

Investigators also located a ballistic armor suit that was located next to a chair at the front door of the R.V. Since Stanley is not a convicted felon, the firearms were placed on property for safekeeping. All the seized evidence will be sent to El Paso County Sheriff's Office investigators for their investigation.  Stanley will be extradited back to El Paso for the sexual assault crime.
