Pastor: Man Accused Of Killing Baby In Ga. Shot Me

MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) - A pastor testified Tuesday that a man accused of fatally shooting a baby in coastal Georgia shot him in the arm 10 days before the child's death.

Wilfredo Calix Flores, pastor of a Hispanic church in Brunswick, said De'Marquise Elkins demanded money from him on March 11 and shot him when he said he didn't have any.

Elkins also is charged with murder in the March 21 killing of 13-month-old Antonio Santiago in Brunswick. That charge has been the main focus of the hearing.

Prosecutors showed Flores a picture of the gun they say was used to shoot the baby. He said it was the same gun that was used to shoot him.

Dont'e (don-TAY) Jackson, a friend of Elkins, testified he was with Elkins when Flores was shot and saw him shoot the pastor.

PULLMAN, Wash. - Six-year-old Denny Curran should be enjoying his last few days of summer before first grade. He should be teasing his brother, splashing in the pool, giving his parents a hard time about vegetables. Instead, Denny is dead, the victim of a horrific, freak bicycle accident that could happen to your child too. "Denny was an extraordinary child," his father Keith Curran told KHQ.
