Indians Blow Out AquaSox 12-3

SPOKANE, Wash. -

In a must-win game with their backs against the wall, the Spokane Indians delivered when they needed it most, thrashing the Everett AquaSox in a 12-3 beatdown at Avista Stadium on Thursday Night in Northwest League play.

Everett manufactured a run in the first inning, but Spokane countered with a seven-spot in the bottom of the second, and the Indians never looked back. Six of the first seven Indians reached safely in the inning.

Abel De Los Santos (W, 4-1) was inserted in the fifth to spell starter Ryne Slack and pitched 2 1/3 innings, allowing one earned run. Lars Huijer (L, 8-2) lasted just 1 2/3 innings, and all seven runs he allowed were earned.

Spokane totaled 16 hits, including a 5-for-8 performance from No. 8 and 9 hitters Jamie Jarmon and Gabriel Roa, who combined to score four times, double twice and drive in three.

The Indians even their overall regular season record at 36-36, while the 'Sox fell to 42-30. In second-half standings, Spokane is 16-18, three games behind Everett.

With only four games left in the season, the Indians need to win out to win first place in the Northwest League North division. Game time tomorrow is 6:30 p.m. at Avista Stadium before the team travels to Everett for a three-game series to end the regular season.
