Indians Keep Hope Alive, Beat AquaSox 7-2

SPOKANE, Wash. -

Spokane kept its playoff hopes alive as the Indians (37-36) won their final regular season game at Avista Stadium Friday night with a 7-2 victory over the Everett AquaSox (42-31).

Kelvin Vasquez (W, 2-2) flashed swing-and-miss stuff in his six innings of work, striking out eight and walking one, allowing two earned runs. Keone Kela and Luis Pollorena combined to strike out five and allow just one hit in the final three innings.

Jamie Jarmon and Gabriel Roa continued their hot hitting from the No. 8 and 9 spots, respectively, totaling four hits and a double, walk, two runs scored and four RBIs. Roa's bunt single scored Jarmon in the bottom of the fourth, and the Indians would not relinquish the lead.

Tommy Burns (L, 2-2) lasted four innings, allowing four runs – three earned – and striking out two.

The Indians travel to Everett for a three-game series with the AquaSox, and are currently tied with the Vancouver Canadians with a similar 37-36 overall record. Spokane can make the playoffs if it finishes with a better record than Vancouver, as the Canadians own the regular-season tiebreaker.

Avista Stadium won the Northest League Field of the Year honor for the 15th time in 17 years.
