Jimmy Shane Wins CDA Diamond Cup

Posted: Updated:

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho - For the first time in 45 years, Coeur d'Alene crowned a new Diamond Cup Champion and it just happens to be one of the hottest drivers in the sport.  Jimmy Shane, driving the #5 Graham Trucking boat, leapfrogged the Kip Brown's 95 Spirit of Qatar at the start and held off J. Michael Kelly's 37 Miss Beacon Plumbing to win the H1 Unlimited final.

The win marks back to back victories for the Maryland native, who took first place at Seafair in Seattle and now is in a virtual heat for the points championship.  Shane (8,952 season points) trails frontrunner Steve David (8,952 points) by just 43 points heading into the final race of the season, September 13-15 at San Diego's Bayfair.

Shane was the top qualifier after Friday, marking the first time the Graham Trucking has ever been the top qualifier.
