Kaufman Keeping NFL Dreams Alive

SPOKANE, Wash. -

Despite being released from the Buffalo Bills on Aug. 30, Brandon Kaufman is not giving up on his NFL dreams.

The former Eastern Washington Eagle who re-wrote the record books at EWU will work out for the Indianapolis Colts and Miami Dolphins "early next week," according to a source. Kaufman worked out for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday but was not offered a contract.

After a 2012 season in which he set the Football Championship Subdivision record with 1,850 receiving yards, Kaufman left school early and declared for the 2013 NFL Draft. Somewhat surprisingly, Kaufman was not among the 254 players selected, instead signing as an undrafted free agent with the Buffalo Bills.

Kaufman totaled five catches for 85 yards with the Bills in preseason action, including a five-yard touchdown catch from former Washington State quarterback Jeff Tuel in the opener at Indianapolis on Aug. 11.

The Bills released Kaufman and 17 other players Aug. 30 in an effort to trim the roster to the 53-man limit. Kaufman was not re-signed to the team's eight-man practice squad.
