Colbert Native, San Francisco Giants Reliever Jeremy Affeldt And Friends Help Woman Injured In Serious Accident

Posted: Updated:

Colbert Native and San Francisco Giants reliever Jeremy Affeldt had his buddies from Spokane in the Bay Area this weekend when they just happened to stumble on a serious car accident. After leaving AT+T Park they pulled out of a nearby tunnel and that's when they witnessed a woman in her 20's had just overturned her vehicle.

"There she was kind of yelling for help and she's kind of screaming so we kind of worked our way across traffic and a couple of us just jumped out and ran over there," Affeldt's friend Steve Warren said. "She was a little bit bloody and yelling for help so we just kind of pried the door open. Luckily we had a firefighter with us so we kind of just sprung into action, we let him take over."

Abe Nisbet with the Spokane Valley Fire Department then worked with her until emergency responders arrived. Thankfully the woman only had minor injuries.

Guys weekend with Jeremy Affeldt is always fun, but it doesn't always go as planned. A couple years ago they were all at Affeldt's house when Jeremy went to the kitchen to make hamburgers.

"We were down hanging out at the pool and we directed him to go get some burgers on the grill and then he put a knife through his hand trying to separate the patties."

That injury landed him on the disabled list for the rest of the season. So between car accidents and cooking accidents, what could happen next year?

"No predictions. I don't want to jinx anything."
