Canada sure is great isn't it? Our neighbors to the north are often overlooked, but they've contributed so much to the world as we know it. Let's set aside the fact that they gave us Justin Beiber. There's a dud every now and then. But Canada has given us the wonderful sports of ice hockey and basketball (James Naismith was born in Ontario), the bloody Caesar (helped me through many Sunday mornings), standard time (now we all know when Snick At Night reruns are on!), and of course a personal favorite of mine, the wonder bra (no explanation necessary). But now, let's go ahead and add one more thing. A wireless portable device capable of playing all your favorite music using Bluetooth technology, while delivering impressive sound sure to catch the attention of anyone within earshot: The Qube 2. 

The Qube 2 comes to us from Matrix Audio out of Toronto. I wasn't around for the release of the Qube 1, but looking at their website, it appears that the Qube 2 is simply double the portable speaker power of its predecessor. And it could not be more simple to use. 

I pulled it out of the box, pushed the power button, and it was immediately recognized by my iPhone's Bluetooth. I didn't even have to read the instructions. It was literally 30 seconds from when I pulled it out of the box, to when I had my beloved Black Crowes blasting throughout the newsroom. 

The Qube 2 (more of a rectangle, but that's cool) has 6 Watts of output and a Bluetooth range of about 30 feet. So even when changing the brake pads out in my car and making sixteen trips back to the garage to get the right size wrench, I can leave my Qube 2 next to the car while hanging out in the garage pretending I know what I'm doing, when really looking up instructions on my phone while hearing my music perfectly. 

The Qube 2 will provide you with stereo sound, and when it is fully charged will rock out for a continuous 10 hours. So if you hit your head on your rear axle and knock yourself out, it will keep blasting your music, and eventually annoy your neighbors enough to where they will come check on you and alert proper authorities about your unconscious state. 

Included in the box: a charger with a universal 3.5 jack attached, a nifty suede carrying pouch, an instruction manual (with many different languages available, including French if you're from Quebec, eh), and a carrying strap that you can put around your wrist and pretend it's a briefcase containing important music documents attached by handcuffs. I get a lot of looks in public places. 

Qube 2 is compatible with smart phones, iPods, tablets, MP3 players, PSP, laptops and so much more. Most importantly, it's compatible with your wallet. You can purchase the Qube 2 from Matrix Audio's websitein five colors (or 'colours' as they list it) for $79.99. US dollars. 

Given its size, long life span, portability, and quality stereo sound, the possibilities of where you can take the Qube 2 are limitless. Here are some ideas I came up with: The beach, the garage, the bathroom, the bus, the bar, work, the Alamo, a bike shop, your doctor's office, a carnival, the circus, your kitchen, sporting events (not recommended for golf), a national park, a truck stop, the sidewalk, a toy store, Fred Meyer, camping, the horse statues in Vantage, a diner, riding your bike, a Hollywood movie set, Arkansas, your porch, pumpkin harvest, tailgating at EWU, Bloomsday, a Field of Dreams fan convention, a tattoo shop, Canada, Petco, a car dealership, The Late Show with David Letterman, a Stephen King book signing, a bridal shower, a hot tub store, Chipotle, tower mountain, a train, hitchhiking, waiting in line for a concert, the lake, Stonehenge, a Prilosec commercial, the space needle, Pat Morita's Walk of Fame star, the ocean, Harlan County Kentucky, Lindsay Lohan's court appearance, while walking your dog, BBQing, touring the Rogue brewery in Newport Oregon, Alcatraz, a polo match, your psychic, a quinceanera, Moe's Tavern, the international space station, a reality TV show, a boxing match, Fantasy Island, the community pool, a barber's chair, a casino, the dog park, Pee Wee's Playhouse, a waffle house. 

I could go on and on. And as long as you have a power source to charge it, so will your Qube 2.

    A 7-year old boy from Hayden, Idaho is fighting for his life after a gun shot wound to the head.The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office says that two young boys were playing with a hand gun, when the gun discharged and hit one of the boys in the head.The injured seven-year-old originally went to Kootenai Health, and then medics transferred him to Sacred Heart. He is now in critical condition .Sheriff's Detectives are continuing an investigation.>>
