A MOTHER'S BROKEN HEART: It's Been Three Years Since Disappearance Of Heather Higgins

SPOKANE, Wash. - It has now been three years since the disappearance of Heather Higgins. All anyone knows is someone saw Heather leave her apartment on the lower south hill September 20, 2010. Heather got in a car with somebody and took off. That was the last time she was seen.

"I believe that somebody knows something and they need to come forward," Higgins Mother Jackie Forney said.

The last three years have been, without question, the hardest years of her mother's life. Forney has spent everyday thinking about her daughter and every free minute looking for her.

"Anybody that's a parent would know what I'm talking about. You know that you're never going to stop looking, you can't," Forney said with great emotion. "You just keep looking and that's just what you do. Some people say I can't believe how diligent you've been and I just say I'm a normal mom, it's what we do."

The Spokane Police Department says that Major Crimes continues to actively investigate the case. The police are investigating the disappearance as a homicide. SPD Communications Director Monique Cotton added that due to the sensitivity of the case, unfortunately they cannot release a lot of details at this point.

Forney has not given up hope.

"It takes a village of caring people to help find missing people," Forney said. "I say to people if you were lost and needed to be found would you not want people to be looking for you and to come rescue you?"

    HONOLULU (AP) - Engineers say damage to the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu was worse than expected and it will remain closed indefinitely.    Hawaii News Now reports boat transportation to the attraction was suspended May 6 after one of the vessel operators noticed a crack on the outside of the memorial.

(AP) - Florida authorities say a woman who was beaten and held captive for two days at gunpoint by her boyfriend escaped when she convinced him bring their dog to an animal hospital - and then slipped a note to a staff member. The Daytona Beach News-Journal quotes the Volusia County Sheriff's Office as saying 39-year-old Jeremy Floyd was arrested at DeLand Animal Hospital. He is being held without bond on domestic violence and other charges.
