Jason Fram's goal in the sixth round of the shootout gave the Spokane Chiefs a come from behind 3-2 shootout win over the Calgary Hitmen Sunday afternoon in Calgary, Alberta. With the win, Spokane improved to 8-2 and with 16 points are tied for first place in the U.S. Division.

Neither team was able to score in the first period as the two teams put up 8 shots apiece. Spokane was 0-3 on the power play in the stanza. Calgary would score twice in the second, the last goal going off a Chiefs skate net front as the Hitmen took a 2-0 lead after two. The Chiefs turned away two Hitmen power plays in the period as Calgary outshot Spokane 13-7 in the period.

Cole Wedman would score on a rebound of a Mitch Holmberg shot just 1:02 into the third period to cut the lead in half at 2-1. Holmberg then got the equalizer with his league leading 12th goal of the season at 8:55 of third to tie the game at 2 and send the contest to overtime. Neither team scored in OT, as the two teams went to a shootout for the first time this season.

Both teams went scoreless through 5 rounds as Chiefs goalie Eric Williams and Hitmen goalie Chris Driedger both benefitted from hit posts in the fifth round. Calgary's Ben Thomas would also hit the post in round 6 and the puck would ring out. Fram would then end the contest with a shot off the glove of Driedger to give Spokane the 1-0 shootout round win.

Spokane outshot Calgary 31-28 in the game, going 0-5 on the power play and a perfect 3-3 on the penalty kill. The Chiefs have gone 6-2 on the road to start the year and will return home to open a 5 game homestand Wednesday night at 7:05pm when they host the Swift Current Broncos.
